In our For Beginners column, Mary Scheaffer gives clear and concise advice for "Getting Ready for Your First African Violet Show." From the Basic Guidelines to explaining how the judging is done, to the inclusion of Pauline Bartholomew's Pre-Show Schedule, Mary can help make your first experience in an African violet show an enjoyable one. (Page 27)

Amy Cash-Allison wrote the article, "Recognizing and Correcting Light Problems," several years ago, and her information and advise are still relevant today. Amy addresses both excessive light and light deficiency in this article. A "must read" for African violet growers on page 38.

"Transporting Plants" is addressed on page 52 in this issue. Claire O'Shea shares her methods and the items she uses to make sure her show plants arrive safely at their destination. From tips including draining excess water from her plants before packing, to making sure a transport boxes fits the plants, Claire gives sound advice for transporting those show winners.
