Our new, and much more colorful African Violet Magazine debuts with this issue! From the lovely plant gracing the cover, to the significant increase in
color pages within, there is so much more to meet the eye!
Tom Moore tells us all about "Sterilizing and Starting Leaves and Crowns" on page 49. From the recipe for sterilizing, through the steps he
follows in producing new plants, this one is a "must read!"
Elmer Godney, one of our For Beginners columnists, addresses "Spring Cleaning" on page 12. Not only does Elmer offer tips and
suggestions, he explains why a clean growing area is so much better for your plants.
Also in this issue, is the reminder about the scholarship AVSA offers to college students majoring in a horticulture-related program. The qualifications
and application instructions are available on page 26, and the deadline for apppling is March 1,2010

The AVSA Board of Directors are pleased to announce to the membership that
during the 63rd Annual AVSA Convention and Show in Sparks, NV, the Board
approved the bid from i21 Webdesign.com to redesign the web-site. This will be
accomplished under the guidance from the Web Master, AVSA Internet Committee and
the 3rd Vice President. No date has been established to have the web-site on
line. As soon as a date is determined, it will be posted on the web-site.
The Board has approved transferring funds from
other areas to help fund the new web-site along with the donations from members.
AVSA still needs additional donations to accomplish the new web-site. Please
send donations to the Booster Fund marked for the new web-site.
The new web-site will be beneficial to all
members of AVSA and should entice new members.
